So far we are not seeing any type shifting issues in AI 24 either. The problem with 23.1.1 is that it's really hard to pinpoint the cause since it is so random. Thanks

We are seeing the same issue. Also getting the message: "This text was created in a different version of Illustrator. Editing the text may cause some changes to your text layout. Basic formating will not be affected. Do you want to continue?" Get this message even when the text was created in an early version of Illustrator 23. What did Adobe change? We have multiple MACs and some are not updated to 23.1.1 yet and we do not see the type shifting. If the file is opened in AI 24.0.1 the type will not shift. Any suggstions would be helpful or is Adobe going to have another Update to fix 23.1.1. Thanks

If you look at the attached image you will see that the Color Mode changes from Book Color to Lab. Why would that change. I agree that the Breakdown is the same but the mode is different.

Thanks everyone for the answers. I made a mistake in stating that the breakdowns changed when duplicating a swatch. Your right that it is just the color mode that changes. I would like to know why the color mode would change? Shouldn't it be an exact match to the original swatch? We are also passing this information along to ESKO to see why there workflows have an issue withe the different swatches. Again thanks for the suggestions and if you have anymore please pass them along.

How come in any of the Creative Cloud Illustrator's when color swatches are duplicated using the Swatch Palette Pulldown Menu, the breakdown and Color Mode is different than the original swatch? Our files will use the same Spot Color twice so that they can be separated as screen or a line color to help with printing. For example PMS 185 would show up twice as Pantone 185 C and Pantone 185 Line. To create the Line Color, Pantone 185 C is selected and duplicated in the Swatch Palette using the Pull Down Menu. The name is then changed to Pantone 185 Line. But the breakdowns are different. The breakdowns should not really matter when using Spot Colors, but our ESKO workflow has a problem with the different values and Color Mode in the Swatch that is duplicated. We have seen large differences caused by the different breakdowns on screen and outputting HCPs. That could be an ESKO Issue, but again why is the Original Swatch changing breakdowns and the Color Mode when it is duplicated in Illustrator. I have included some screen shots below. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the suggestions. First off we have tried other fonts and still get the same results. Second: We are not sure if the file was imported or copied from another program. We received this file from our customer and who knows how it was set up. I agree that there should be a space, hyphen, soft return or a hard return at the end of the line. Hi Monika, OK that works in Illustrator, but doesn't really save our problem. Our issue is when the live type files are used by other software (ArtPro, ESKO products, etc), either by us or our customers they will get the "A". ArtPro will convert the type to outlines and the "A" will appear. I guess the questions that I have are: What is that invisible character? Where does it come from? How is it created that we don't see it when there is live type? Any suggestions on how we would be able to know that the character is there would be great. Thanks

We're having an issue when converting live type to outlines. An extra character "A" is showing up on the first line after converting the type to outlines. Please see the screen shot. Note that the live type doesn't show the character "A", even when viewing invisible characters. There is an invisible character there that seems to acting as a soft return. We are able to change the character or delete it to anything that works. What would create this invisible character and how can we detect it without converting the text to outlines? Our final workflow does convert all our type to outlines so the character "A" would appear on our final files. Paul thanks for the suggestion, but the two computers are not even signed in to ICloud. We also have the Creative Cloud Sync turned off in the preferences for Creative Cloud. I agree that it sure looks like something in High Sierra, since we did not have this issue until this OS update. Not sure if it's Apple or Adobe's problem. If you have any other suggestions let us know. Thank You
